Severe Weather Chances for N Georgia Tomorrow

Severe weather chances are up big time for the mid section of the country today and that could translate to us by mid day tomorrow. Here are the different outlooks for the US today:

SPC Categorical outlook with most of AR, TN, and southern MO having the highest risk for tonight

SPC's risk areas for tornadoes in the midwest today. Highest risk is in the Delta region and southern MO

Wind threat highest out west tonight

So these are the areas for tonight and it looks like a doozy for parts for S MO and NE Arkansas. I will have a live stream up later tonight to cover this area. This is what the 4km NAM (WRF) is showing for later tonight at 7pm and then again 11pm. This will be mainly straight line winds tonight, but there will be some embedded tornadoes in the highest sheared area in NE AR and So MO.tonight 7pm tonight 11pm

As for us tomorrow here is what the SPC is saying, and I agree with them on this one with the exception of one thing…. I think the area needs to stretch to the south a bit more, like past Macon and Warner Robins.day2otlk_0600

The main piece of energy that affect the Midwest today will kick out later tonight and quickly race towards the NE. What will be coming through tomorrow late morning / early afternoon will be a much smaller piece of energy coming through. Here is the 500mb level at 10 am

500 mb at 10am

500 mb at 10am

for Friday and you can tell that it is a much smaller piece. Here is that energy at 1pm and

1pm 500

1pm 500

this is when and where I think the highs chances for severe weather will be…. Mainly south of I-20 tomorrow around noon – 5pm. The WRF keeps t-storm activity down but once we hit around noon it all pops, here is the WFR radar at 4pm.4pm

Strongest storms with the potential for damaging winds will be in this sector tomorrow early afternoon.

As for Atlanta and NW of town I think the risk for tonight and tomorrow is HIGHLY unlikely.

On a scale of 1-10 tonight and tomorrow get a 2 for Atlanta and NW, but a 3-4 for areas south of I-20 tomorrow early afternoon.

Another update will be out this afternoon.
