Why Have I Been Absent on the Blogs and Where am I Going???

In a nutshell the TV career I have enjoyed for the last 17 years has come to close and a new beginning has started. For the last 2 months I have had my nose in the books and feet on the ground studying …… wait for it 🙂

Real estate!! “WHAT???? Are you freaking kidding me??? What the heck do you know about real estate Mike? And why are you not going to be on TV anymore???”

For the first part, I was a successful homebuilder in Arkansas while I was doing morning television for 5 years and 18 closed custom homes. Here are the last 2 that I designed and built in the beautiful city of Benton, AR.

I LOVED building homes, absolutely loved it. But with the market crash in 2008-2010 it forced me to get out of the business and stay in TV. Here in Georgia the financial structure of homebuilding companies is different than Arkansas. Back there in Arkansas I could be a rogue individual builder, here in Atlanta I would need to be a corporation and that is not possible. So I decided to focus on the sales part of the home process and launch myself into getting my license and an office to sell from. Enter the fine people of Keller Williams with Denise Buchanan and Kate Boccia at the office in Roswell. They have taken me under their wing and as of last week I am a fully licensed Realtor beginning the process of building my real estate business. Here’s my card 😉

And here is a quick video that my buddy Al Burroughs put together:

Ok so the big question is where does this leave me in terms of being a meteorologist?? You will be getting the exact same content you are used to getting on Facebook and twitter and the blog is resuming now that I am done studying. BUT, I will have much more freedom to write things that are on my mind that are in no way affiliated with a television station. AND I will be chasing hurricanes and tornadoes in the plains, WOOOOOHOOOOO, and most of the time while chasing I will be broadcasting live!! I could never do that while having a job on TV. Who knows, I might land back on the air in Atlanta because I will not be leaving this city anytime soon. You will most likely see me on the air in Atlanta in some capacity one day, I will let you know the second I do.

Ok, here is how you can help me get my business going, and I promise I will not turn this blog into a real estate blog nor will I blast my Facebook page with advertising. I do however need to build a strong database of clients around the North Georgia area. So because of that I ask you as loyal weather geeks to let me add you to my growing database of people that I can hopefully connect through you with someone either wishing to sell or buy a new home. Even if you are not looking to move anytime soon, you might know someone either now, or might hear from someone you know that might be soon looking to move.

Here is how you can help:

Email me at mike@mikefrancishomes.com your first and last name, email address, phone number, address (street, city, zip), birth date, and blood type (kidding about the blood type LOL) so I can add you. Then I will put all of you in my database under the “Geeks” section to call you first over the next few weeks to chat and talk about the weather and whether or not you have any leads I can chew on.

I thank all of you for your continued support through this transition I continue to go through and thank you in advance for all the help with getting my new business going!

With all my thanks from the bottom of my heart!

Mike

I was a buyer’s agent, and also left the business during the crash. I found I really didn’t enjoy that side of real estate, but I do enjoy construction and rehab. (I still work for a hardwood floor company that deals in a lot of new construction and rehab, as well as commercial.)

I recently decided to get back into as well. I began the pre-license course just this week! (Cheaper to start over than pay all the fees to reinstate.) This time, my focus will be in selling, rehab, and new construction. I know more than I did then, and will go where my interests are.

I wish you the best in the new endeavors, and I know I speak for many when I say we are glad you are sticking around (both in Atlanta, and in weather)!
