Hurricane Arthur 10pm EDT Update

In the last several hours Arthur has begun to strengthen a bit under with a bit of help from some momentary weak winds at the upper levels on the SE side of this trough that is digging in from the NW. Here is the pressure map from the NAM for tonight through tomorrow morning and you can see that Arthur will be making a quick northern blast at around 30mph with winds around the eye gusting to 100+ in some very isolated locations like Kitty Hawk and Kill Devil Hills.

The interesting this about Arthur for us here in N Georgia  happens starting later tonight. Since a hurricane is like a giant valley in the atmosphere and all the winds from hundreds of miles around the center of the storm rush towards the center, we will continue to have winds coming in from the north. This will bring in early September like weather for the weekend with very low humidity and cooler than normal temps. Here are the dewpoints for tonight at 11pm and tomorrow morning at 8am. Anything below 65 is considered dry for this time of year:

11pm DP8am DPTemps for tomorrow morning across the entire metro area will start in the lower 60’s and a few upper 50’s thanks to that dry cooler air moving in. Highs tomorrow afternoon will be making it into the 70’s and 80’s for Pete’s sake!! I for one won’t be complaining!!! The rest of the weekend we will see temps warm a very slight bit, but for the most part it will be dry and cooler than normal…. Enjoy!

For those of you who didn’t read my blog the other day about my change in careers, here is the link to that: Mike’s Career Change and How it Won’t Affect My Love for Blogging the Weather

Here is how you can help:

Email me at your first and last name, email address, phone number, address (street, city, zip), birth date, and blood type (kidding about the blood type LOL) so I can add you. Then I will put all of you in my database under the “Geeks” section to call you first over the next few weeks to chat and talk about the weather and whether or not you have any leads I can chew on.

I thank all of you for your continued support through this transition I continue to go through and thank you in advance for all the help with getting my new business going!

With all my thanks from the bottom of my heart!
